Something from Debbie

A few weeks back I had this brilliant idea to ask my mother in law, who is very creative, she sews, quilts, crochets, etc., to make me some crochet flowers. I wrote her an email and sent some photos of what I wanted. She replied and said she would start working on it.

A few days ago I got a package in the mail. YIPPIE! my flowers were here.

I opened the box to this.

Oh my!

I had the idea in my head, before they were made, that I would use them to make jewelry. Which some of them will still be used for.

But that big red beauty in the bottom left corner......well I have other ideas for her.
After a few minutes of admiring my new pretties, I called Minnesota. {That is were my husband is from and were his side of the family lives, more on that later.}

Debbie, his mom answered the phone, and after a few minutes of telling her how much I loved them and what else I wanted her to make and that I would send her some yarn and thread in the specific colors that I wanted her to use {I know I'm rambling in a run on sentence, bare with me},

she said "MAIL THEM BACK TO ME".

'WHAT? NO, I DON'T WANT TO MAIL THEM BACK!?'

OK, so there was a reasonable explanation for it, she would use them for the patterns I wanted and size and so on. But still, really?, mail them back?

Well, I agreed. Only because I know that what I will get in my next package from minnesota will be twice as good.

Artful Surprises

Yesterday morning I walked out to the backyard to banging and sawing noises. I was not "allowed" to enter the workshop. Ok so now my curiosity is way up. Well I went back in the house and tried to forget about it.

Not a chance!

I went back outside with 'some pictures of a gate that I wanted the hubby to see'

wink.... wink......

and was greeted at the door of the shop, dang it not even a peek.

Several hours later the hubby comes in the house yelling "turn on your overhead lights", I did and what he walked in with was this beautiful crucifix that he had handmade from scraps out of the shop.

They say 'good things come to those who wait'.........well one of, if not my biggest pet peave is having to wait,

but let me tell you I did not mind at all waiting on this.

Page one of......

Ok so here I go. I am new to blogging and still trying to figure this whole thing out. There are so many inspirational and beautiful blogs out there, i'm jealous. So this will be the place that I share my story of the quest for the things I love. Rusty chippy peely sparkly blah blah blah...found objects. And hopefully along the way, if I am lucky, I will meet some awesome people and inspire, as I have been inspired by you. I have a ton of projects to do and ideas to bring to life. If only I could get the hubby to just drop everythinng and paint....for me. {SIGH}
Back to reality....as soon as I figure out how to add photos I will post some "before" pics. Now the "after" pics might take awhile I tend to um....say drift a little. So bare with me as I set out on this new journey in BLOGLAND.
